Story

It's a new year and a new challenge! And fittingly it incorporates my new hoppy. I am taking my bike and riding my first Gran Fondo - 120km on the Great Ocean Road and 2km elevation. Help!!

The race is organised by the Amy Gillett Foundation which aims to create a safer environment for all bicycle riders and help improve traffic flow for all road users.  We all know someone who rides so please stay alert and watch out for the guys in lycra.

I am taking part in the fundraising challenge leading up to the Amy’s Gran Fondo event on 13 September to help the AGF raise at least $100,000 to invest in educational program initiatives to create a safer environment for riding.

Any contribution you can make will help the AGF achieve its vision of zero bike rider fatalities.

For all of you needing an extra incentive to donate, if I beat Nath, he is going to take the plunge and step into a café in lycra. Watch out Adelaide!

Amy Gillett Foundation

The Amy Gillett Foundation (AGF) began its work in 2006 in the name of Amy Gillett, who was tragically killed as a result of being hit by a motorist whilst cycling with the Australian Women’s Road cycling team in Germany in 2005.
The Amy Gillett Foundation's vision is for safe bicycling throughout Australia in order to achieve the ultimate target of zero bicycling fatalities.
The Foundation promotes a safe and harmonious relationship of shared respect between bicyclists and motorists – to highlight the importance of being responsible every time we head out on the road whether we're on two wheels or on four. Why? Because everyone deserves to arrive at their destination safely irrespective of their chosen mode of transport.
