Story
After 4 months with no bike in Europe, I realise how much cycling means to me (and how much I love it!), so I've decided to come home and train for Amy's Gran Fondo which will be a 120km ride in Lorne, Victoria on Sunday 11 September. My goal for the ride is to qualify for the UCI Gran Fondo World Series, either way I'll be training hard until then and will give it my best shot!
Staying safe while cycling is so important, whether you ride or not, cyclists aren't on the road just to annoy you, we're having fun and doing what we love. Thanks for moving out a little when passing us and keeping an eye out for us when turning.
Any contribution made will not go towards coffee's at the end of my ride (!), but will help the Amy Gillett Foundation achieve its vision of zero bike rider fatalities.
Activity
Amy Gillett Foundation
The Amy Gillett Foundation (AGF) began its work in 2006 in the name of Amy Gillett, who was tragically killed as a result of being hit by a motorist whilst cycling with the Australian Women’s Road cycling team in Germany in 2005.
The Amy Gillett Foundation's vision is for safe bicycling throughout Australia in order to achieve the ultimate target of zero bicycling fatalities.
The Foundation promotes a safe and harmonious relationship of shared respect between bicyclists and motorists – to highlight the importance of being responsible every time we head out on the road whether we're on two wheels or on four. Why? Because everyone deserves to arrive at their destination safely irrespective of their chosen mode of transport.
