Toby's Grain Fundo
Story
In the immortal words of Queen's Freddie Mercury, 'I want to ride my bicycle [secure in the knowledge that there exists a mutual respect between all road users, because everyone's safety is important]!'*
Amy's Gran Fondo is a mass cycling event that aims to raise funds and awareness for safer roads for cyclists. Bikes are much more fun than ambulances and the more people cycling on our roads and bike paths, the healthier and happier we'll all be. And remember drivers, more bikes means fewer cars!
So if you enjoy riding your bike, or even better, if you would like to ride your bike but feel unsafe on the road, please consider chucking some funds my way and I will make sure most (okay, all) of them will make it to the the Amy Gillett Foundation.
Thank you and happy pedalling.
*For melodic and rhythmic reasons, the final cut of this track featured more concise lyrics, but the complete line is featured in the original liner notes. Trust me.
Activity
Amy Gillett Foundation
The Amy Gillett Foundation (AGF) began its work in 2006 in the name of Amy Gillett, who was tragically killed as a result of being hit by a motorist whilst cycling with the Australian Women’s Road cycling team in Germany in 2005.
The Amy Gillett Foundation's vision is for safe bicycling throughout Australia in order to achieve the ultimate target of zero bicycling fatalities.
The Foundation promotes a safe and harmonious relationship of shared respect between bicyclists and motorists – to highlight the importance of being responsible every time we head out on the road whether we're on two wheels or on four. Why? Because everyone deserves to arrive at their destination safely irrespective of their chosen mode of transport.
